The Outlaw Fishing Guide, Grays Harbor County, Washington

Outlaw Fishing Guide Sponsored by Peninsula Boats

Volume 2, Issue 3

Salmon Special

If you've noticed the ocean Salmon season has been stellar so far this summer. But it's something I'm not going to write about it. How technical is it anyway? A 4 oz. Banana, 000 flasher, deep six, and a barbless hook. Please. Slam the boat into granny, and fish on! That's how technical it is. Anymore filling the boat with gas is more of a challenge. But there is something to say about ocean fresh Salmon.

Remember my first article last year? I had written about bay fishing and bank maggots. Well it's that time again. This season we'll find out what's the hot colors of flashers, spinners, and plugs, my advice is to try everything and watch your favorite tackle stores racks.

Don't forget that with Salmon coming in, they push the summer run Steelhead into hook range on your favorite rivers. This year I'll be pushing eggs and floats and jigs and floats. Don't forget about Herring and floats in the mouths of the rivers that spill into the bay. I've got a surf trip for Salmon coming up, this is an exploratory to establish another way to have fun fishing by unconventional methods. Any takers? Email me to go. I'll take a maximum of 6 people to my secret spot. Bring your surf rods . I'll supply the gear. Departure date is September 1st. Only 6 people are allowed on this trip so, if this is your bag, email me at outlaw@ghonline.com.

Hey I've got a line on floats that are made by Peninsula Boats.com. These floats come in 3 sizes, 2 1/2"jig floats, 4" egg floats, and 10" jetty floats. I've always lucked out by calling my buddies at Peninsula boats, they always have great ideas to tough problems on fishing and hunting. The floats these guys make will rival any of the floats on the market today. What a sales pitch! I should make tv commercials… Did I mention they also do bottoms on fiberglass drift boats. Enough of the long winded plug.

I've noticed a lot more kayaks in Grays Harbor lately. I wonder if the kayak owners are willing to test themselves and their boats to a fishing trip in the bay? Here's a challenge, if you see me at the mouth of the Hoquiam river hanging fish bring yourself out and show me what your made of. This challenge is good all the way to the mouth of the Wynoochee. I'll give paddlers gear if I see them fishing from a kayak. So don't wimp out! These boats, just shouldn't make your vehicles look good! Use them! Remember, bigger the kahones, the bigger the pay off, like out on the jetty, if you do it right, the Salmon are waiting for a good barbeque!

Keep the emails coming on reports and questions, and remember if I don't see you out there. That's more fish for me.
